In the field of 3D Digitization we are looking for a
STUDENT ASSISTANT FOR 3D SCANNING & MODELLING

to join our Competence Center Cultural Heritage Digitization as soon as possible with optional extension to B.Sc. or M.Sc. thesis.

What we expect from you

  • Experience with 3D modelling tools, e.g. ZBrush, GeoMagic or 3ds Max
  • Interest in photography, lighting setups and 3D scanning
  • Experience in image processing is advantageous
  • Proficient in English
  • Precise, responsible and independent work

What you can expect from us

The Competence Center for Cultural Heritage Digitization at Fraunhofer IGD develops and applies 3D scanning technologies using photogrammetry and structured light. These technologies allow 3D reconstruction of cultural heritage objects. Depending on object properties and quality requirements different acquisition setups are used.
The outcome of the scanning process often requires post-processing such as geometry cleaning, texture mapping and optimization of high-poly 3D models. Your task will be to support 3D modelling/editing operations and you will learn how to filter noise on point clouds, remove outliers, how to use hole-filling tools and model missing parts of 3D scans.
Furthermore, you will have an opportunity to assist the 3D scanning projects and learn how to control different kinds of cameras, 3D scanners and robots.
Remuneration according to the general works agreement for employing assistant staff.
The working time consists of 10-20 hours per week.
The position is initially limited for 3 months.
In case of identical qualifications preference will be given to severely disabled candidates.
