Your tasks will revolve around data scientific analysis of molecular data, with one potential focus on human sensory phenomena. The scientific focus of your work will be the structuring, augmentation and algorithmic evaluation of experimentally obtained molecular data. For this, you will employ methods of machine learning, especially information retrieval and extraction, artificial neural networks and semantic analysis. Among your tasks will be the adoption and development of algorithms for the specific needs of sensory or physiologically relevant molecular data, and the specification of data quality standards that meet both experimental and data scientific requirements. Your activities in the context of industrial cooperation and public funded projects will range from contracting and project acquisition to experimental implementation, evaluation and presentation of results, which are expected to be published in scientifically relevant peer-reviewed journals.
What we expect from youYou must have a university degree in Sciences or Engineering, preferably with a focus on computer science or chemistry. You must bring experience of working with data-scientific tools and methods and you must be comfortable and confident in solving problems by writing your own code. You should have an analytical and confident approach to complexity, as well as an appreciation of the unfamiliar. You must be motivated to leave your intellectual comfort zone and implement your broad interest to find analogies in foreign disciplines. You must have strong communication skills and the ability to deal with the team in everyday and technical terms. Good English language skills are a prerequisite, German is a bonus.
