The Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits IIS has an immediate opening in its AudioLabs department in Erlangen, Germany for a
Research Associate* – Deep Neural Network Optimization

What is it about?

You will work on methods to transfer deep neural networks for multimedia applications to mobile and embedded devices. To do so, you will refine and implement methods to optimize the network in terms of model complexity and the size of model updates in order to reduce power consumption, and in order to make effective use of memory and transmission bandwidth. You will investigate methods and best practices to facilitate the transfer of existing deep learning applications onto embedded hardware platforms.

About us

AudioLabs is a joint institution of Fraunhofer IIS and Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU). Founded in 2008, it is unique worldwide in both its mission and international approach: A team of globally renowned scientists is working to shape the future of audio and multimedia technologies in research areas such as audio coding, audio signal analysis, and perceptual spatial audio signal processing.

What we expect from you

  • A Master's or PhD degree in Computer Science, Electronics, or similar
  • Programming experience in Python
  • Experience in the application of machine learning and deep neural networks
  • Basic knowledge in digital signal processing, pattern recognition or efficient algorithms
  • Fluent English for collaborative work in an international team

What you can expect from us

We offer you varied and challenging work in an enthusiastic team. You can contribute with your ideas and help design new concepts. Regular training is given, as are flexible, family-friendly work arrangements.
Appointment, remuneration and social security benefits based on the public-sector collective wage agreement (TVöD).
