Master thesis – Infrared sensors based on hafnium oxide thin films

Your task:

Focus of the work will be the characterization of hafnium oxide thin films for application in infrared sensors. For electrical characterization, a range of methods is already established at Fraunhofer IPMS. Additionally, physical characterization techniques such as X-ray diffractometry and atomic force microscopy allow for in-depth analysis of the fabricated thin films. 
In the scope of the work, the impact of layer properties such as film thickness, chemical composition (stoichiometry), doping and crystal structure on the performance of hafnium oxide for infrared applications will be studied. Thereby, the material will be optimized with respect to signal strength, reliability, and temperature stability.
