Working Student: Management of the Library of Countermeasures

Cloud-based systems offer great possibilities: rich resources, wide range of services, and access to various databases. They can be an excellent asset to modern autonomous, safety-critical systems, such as driverless cars, or mobile robots and automated machines in smart industry. Those systems must present highest levels of safety, reliability and performance – so it is extremely important to identify and deal with all of their weaknesses.

At Fraunhofer IKS we investigate how safety-critical functions of autonomous systems can be delegated to the cloud. To achieve this goal, we perform various safety analyses to find any vulnerabilities present in the system, and search for solutions eliminating them. Your task will be completing and managing the library of countermeasures. You will gather, categorize and evaluate countermeasures based on our projects and current state of the art, and integrate this knowledge into the library.

What we expect from you

  • Understanding of databases, cloud-based systems, and safety analysis
  • Nice to have: experience with software development and UI design, advanced programming skills, interest in agile software development
