Photonic integrated receiver circuits combine photonics, high frequency technology and semiconductor physics, three exciting and dynamic areas of applied research. Such photodetectors developed at HHI can be found at the end of every glass fiber, in scientific detectors (e.g. LIGO, ALMA), in satellites for communication with laser beams, and recently also in quantum communication and sensing applications.
HHI has a leading position worldwide in the field of photodetectors. The dynamism of this technology field opens up the scope for exciting scientific projects with a clear application perspective. You are assured of excellent contacts in the relevant industrial and scientific environment. We offer a wide range of opportunities in an international environment. WE are looking for people who want to make a difference.
What we expect from you
- scientific university degree and PhD degree in physics or electronic engineering with focus on photonics
- well-funded knowledge of physics, function and fabrication of semiconductor components such as e.g. photodiodes, SOAs and lasers
- experience and expertise regarding RF simulations and packaging
- knowledge of waveguide optics and monolithic integration of photodiodes with photonic circuits
- experience with acquisition and management of projects
- excellent English and knowledge of German language
What you can expect from usWe offer you a scientifically first-class working environment in a leading research institute as well as contacts to international industrial companies and research institutions.
The working time consists of 39 hours per week.
The position is initially limited for 2 years.
In case of identical qualifications preference will be given to severely disabled candidates.
